Senior IP Counsel

We are looking for a Senior IP Counsel to join our IP Restoration team. This is an exciting opportunity to significantly contribute to the restoration team and to assist in the handling and management of lapsed cases for customers of Clarivate. You will be one of the members of the IP Restoration team not only managing the day-to-day work relating to lapsed trademark/patents/designs but also being fully involved in the work relating to the prevention of lapses for the business. This role will not only involve liaising with internal stakeholders/customers but also with external stakeholders/customers – a key part of the work is investigation into the cause of lapses and the understanding and ability to translate this into digestible information for the customer via appropriate and professional reporting.  This role will report to the Director, IP Counsel.  

 About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments   

• 5+ years' experience in the Intellectual Property Industry with the familiarity with trademark/patent lifecycle 
• At least 1 year of experience with procedures relating to trademark/patent renewals 

It would be great if you also have . . .   

• 3+ years' experience in an IP Lifecycle Management or Renewal software platform, docketing practice. 
• Proven ability to review and analyze complex situations/information. 
• Sensitivity to urgent deadlines and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written, verbal and face-to-face communication skills. 

What will you be doing in this role?  

• Have ownership of the investigation of lapsed trade mark/patent/design rights, particularly in understanding the manner in which the operation of Clarivate's internal processes, systems, personnel and supplier relationships have contributed to the loss of rights. 
• Opening, managing and closing lapse case files via our proprietary systems and maintaining diary/deadlines for the files; liaising with internal stakeholders on key lapses/customer issues; drafting and sending of formal communications to customers relating to the lapse of their IP Rights. 
• Managing customer relationships with meetings and calls to ensure satisfaction post lapse; filing IP restorations/applications via our agent network and liaising with the customers to obtain the required information/documentation to finalize restoration/prosecution; management of invoices relating to IP Restoration teamwork. 
• Participating in cross functional forums and working with the business to reduce the risk of incidences of lapses with a view to working with internal stakeholders to improve processes/systems. 
• Take ownership of reporting and data for our Insurers as well as other reporting requirements of the team; working closely with colleagues across the business to answer general queries around lapse matters; handling ad-hoc project work. 

 About the Team   

The IP Restoration team handles lapses across almost all the entities at Clarivate providing IP services to customers. We interact with a huge number of different colleagues based all over the world, we also work very closely with our agent network and therefore offers a wide spectrum of exciting opportunities.  The team handles the work starting from the initial investigation of a lapse right through the successful restoration of an IP Right or a re-filing of a new IP registration. We have responsibility for our own processes and utilize fantastic resources which allow us to manage our workload efficiently. 

The team works closely with internal stakeholders to improve processes and provide statistics to the business. The work is extremely varied, and nothing is ever the same day to day, it is extremely interesting and keeps you challenging yourself.

House of Work

This is a full-time position based in Belgrade, Serbia. The working hours would be standard EMEA working hours.

This is a hybrid position; you will be expected to work from our Belgrade office 3 days every other week.
