QA Engineer IIAbout the Job

As Zendesk expands its software engineering team, we're seeking a seasoned QA Engineer who will play a crucial role in driving our backend processes and products to new heights.

Operating on a global scale with over 130,000 customers, Zendesk leverages a vast suite of technologies in a large-scale distributed system. Our tech stack includes JavaScript ES6, TypeScript, Node.js, and Cypress. Experience with K6 or any other performance testing framework is viewed as a bonus.

What You'll Be Doing?

As a QA Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Defining and implementing a comprehensive testing strategy, including manual and automated testing.

  • Proactively monitoring and identifying bottlenecks in system performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Writing reusable, testable, and maintainable test code using best practices, design patterns, and company standards.

  • Reporting change logs between releases.

  • Conduct smooth deployments to the product by acting as a release manager.

  • Building relationships with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and customer-facing teams.

  • Reviewing quality specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback

  • Implementation of appropriate testing methodologies

  • Coordinate fixes with the development team on identified issues and regressions to reach a stable release

  • Perform software testing in all phases of the design-develop-test-release-maintain software life cycle

What Would You Bring to the Team?

Ideal candidates should have:

  • 2+ years of professional experience as a QA engineer, with at least 1 year of professional experience working with automated testing.

  • Proven experience with JavaScript and Cypress. NodeJs is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of programming best practices, distributed system concepts (eventual consistency, timeouts, partitioning, circuit breaking, etc.), and the SDLC.

  • Exceptional communication skills - you can clearly express your ideas and actively listen to others.

  • Experience working with Agile and Scrum.

  • Adaptability and an open mind - you excel in managing changes.

  • A passion for learning and driving continuous improvement.
