Role Summary

The Component Engineer will be responsible for the electrical components that are part of Rivian's Electric Power Conversion circuit boards.


Responsibilities
  • Interact with electrical, mechanical, quality, and system engineers
  • Work with component suppliers, distributers, purchasing team and contract manufacturers
  • Work with electrical engineers to select components based on performance, reliability, availability, cost, environmental and manufacturing requirements
  • Review and approve component specifications from suppliers
  • Interact with buyers and engineers to find alternate equivalent or better than parts
  • Input and manage Rivian component Part Numbers in Rivian custom database

Qualifications
  • Minimum BS Degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum 4 years experience in electrical Component Engineering
  • Thorough understanding of all component types including active (transistors, diodes, ICs) and passive types (magnetics, capacitors, resistors)
  • Experience using component research tools such as Silicon Expert
  • Capability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and technical datasheets
  • Detailed understanding of AEC-Q, RoHS AND IPC requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
