Role Summary
In this role, you will be a technical lead building Rivian's Commercial Tech Platform & API services to support partner teams. The sales platform will integrate with existing services and develop new UI experiences for internal applications. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader capable of collaborating with product management, engineering leaders, cross-functional teams, and architects to build a world-class product. You should take ownership of your domain, manage uncertainties, and be driven to solve complex problems, with a strong focus on system scalability and back-end performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend applications and services to support Rivian's digital platforms.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, promoting modern backend best practices and ensuring a high-quality bar is maintained.
• Help define the architectural vision of the team, making key decisions on technology and implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend, product, and design, to develop cohesive, end-to-end solutions.
• Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC) from requirement gathering to deployment and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability in our software products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience working on large-scale, enterprise-grade web applications.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language, with a preference for TypeScript ). Experience with Python, Go, or Java is also highly valued.
• Deep experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Experience with microservices and building serverless applications.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Solid experience with CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git).
• Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle and Agile Software Development.
• Experience working with at least one major cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with frontend development (e.g., using React) is a significant plus but not required.
