Senior Database Administrator (DBA) – Trading Systems & Data Engineering Support

We are seeking a
Senior Database Administrator
to lead the performance, reliability, and evolution of our trading-related databases. The ideal candidate has a strong
MySQL/InnoDB
foundation, is experienced in
cloud-native environments (AWS or Azure)
, and has a proven track record in
modernizing traditional relational database environments toward scalable data warehouse architectures
.

This is a hands-on technical role that requires close collaboration with trading platform engineers, data engineers, and DevOps teams. The successful candidate will play a critical part in supporting real-time trading operations while also enabling long-term data architecture modernization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, optimize, and ensure the high availability of MySQL/InnoDB-based database environments across production, staging, and development.
  • Monitor database health, implement performance tuning, fault detection, and incident response strategies (replication, slow queries, deadlocks, etc.).
  • Work closely with data engineers to align database architecture with data pipeline and analytics needs.
  • Support migration and transformation projects towards cloud-based or hybrid
    data warehouse solutions (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse)

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., for backup/restore, monitoring, schema changes).
  • Ensure secure access controls and compliance with data security policies relevant to the financial services sector.
  • Participate in capacity planning, scaling strategies, and disaster recovery design.
  • Document database environments, SOPs, and knowledge base articles for internal teams.

Requirements:

  • 5–10 years
    of hands-on experience as a DBA in high-availability production environments.
  • Expertise in
    MySQL with InnoDB
    , including replication, clustering, and performance diagnostics.
  • Experience with
    monitoring tools
    (e.g., Percona Monitoring & Management, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Familiarity with
    data warehousing principles
    and some exposure to modern solutions (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of
    SQL
    , query optimization, indexing, and data modelling.
  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud platform (
    AWS preferred
    , Azure/Alibaba acceptable).
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, especially data engineers and backend developers.
  • Experience in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and version control (Git).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in
    financial services, trading platforms, or low-latency environments

  • Understanding of
    data pipelines and ETL tools

  • Familiarity with
    infrastructure-as-code
    (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Basic knowledge of
    regulatory requirements
    affecting data in a fintech/forex context.
