Role Summary

Monitoring will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining robust monitoring solutions for our vehicle software ecosystem. This includes designing, implementing, and optimizing monitoring tools and processes that span embedded systems, in-vehicle software, and cloud infrastructure. The primary objective is to ensure consistent and reliable code execution across the entire fleet, proactively identifying performance bottlenecks, anomalies, and potential issues to maintain optimal vehicle functionality.

Responsibilities

• Design and Develop: Design and implement services running on Rivian vehicles, responsible for communication between vehicle signals and cloud services.
• Working in a complex architecture that includes embedded software development along with cloud services hosted in an AWS Kubernetes cluster, primarily focusing on monitoring.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and continuously improve for speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Quality Assurance: Write integration tests/unit tests and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for code, APIs, and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Golang, embedded software development, Git, and RESTful API development.
• Familiarity with other languages like C/C++, Rust, Kotlin, JS, knowledge of orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, NATS, Protobuf, or Prometheus is a plus.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Be able to work with different team members and be a true self-learner.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
