Air & Sea Freight Operations Specialist

DP World, the fast-growing logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is seeking a dedicated Air & Sea Freight Operations Specialist to join our growing Freight Forwarding team in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Your Responsibilities:

Ocean Freight Operations:

•    Coordinate and schedule sea freight transportation, including booking cargo with shipping lines and carriers.

•    Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays or issues to ensure on-time delivery.

•    Prepare and manage shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, shipping manifests, customs paperwork).

•    Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to international sea freight standards.

•    Collaborate with internal teams, carriers, and external stakeholders to optimize shipping processes.

•    Continuously seek improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Air Freight Operations:

•    Generate accurate and competitive air freight quotes through thorough pricing and procurement processes.

•    Negotiate rates with airlines, agents, and carriers to ensure cost-effective solutions.

•    Process transport orders via the Transportation Management System (TMS).

•    Coordinate air/rail/truck/sea cargo pickups and deliveries for export/import flows.

•    Secure space reservations with airlines/agents and issue shipping/delivery instructions.

•    Ensure proper handling of hazardous, restricted, or prohibited items and client documentation.

•    Monitor transport progress, advise clients on customs requirements, and communicate shipment updates.

•    Validate transport documents, report discrepancies, and confirm delivery (CMRs) to stakeholders.

Cross-Modal Duties (Air & Sea):

•    Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, updates, and concerns.

•    Maintain accurate, real-time updates in TMS and ensure cost estimates are correctly entered.

•    Manage timely and accurate closure and invoicing of files to meet KPIs.

•    Review and approve agent/supplier invoices aligned with agreed terms.

•    Support the Sales team by identifying market trends, providing insights, and helping with client acquisition/retention.

Your profile:

•    Approximately 2 years of experience in freight forwarding, with exposure to both sea freight and air freight forwarding operations.

•    Completed secondary education (higher education is a plus).

•    IATA certification preferred but not mandatory.

•    Strong knowledge of documentation, shipping procedures, and international trade regulations.

•    Fluency in Serbian as well as in English.

•    Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

•    Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

•    Proficient in MS Office and Transport Management Systems (TMS).

•    Detail-oriented with a commitment to high service quality.

•    Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities or client needs.
