Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Unix/Linux, MySQL, PHP, and Apache.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.

In addition, the incumbent will perform assigned system administration duties for all network services in support of Web delivery and the Web development environments.

The role requires familiarity with software deployment and integration in a Unix environment, working predominately with Open Source tools and programs.

The Systems Administrator will report directly to the CTO and be responsible for planning and patch management, technical documentation, support of desktop OSX machines, and working with and being available to support Development and QA users.

The candidate should have a solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model, strong understanding of Application Layer Protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SMTP, and experience with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

Excellent communications skills and excellent system level trouble shooting skills are also required.

Responsibilities:

  • UNIX/Linux Server installation, hardening, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Shared Primary SA for all data-center related facilities issues (power, generator, cooling).
  • Shared Primary SA for all production servers, responsible for application deployments, and regular maintenance.
  • Planning and patch management.
  • Technical documentation.
  • Salesforce is not mandatory but experience with and knowledge about Salesforce would be nice
  • Support of desktop OSX machines.
  • Work with and be available to support Development and QA users.
  • Diagnose server-hardware issues and complete all hardware-related maintenance (eg: swap a drive, rack-mount a server).
  • Use technical knowledge to work with and maintain a variety of server-based applications such as Nagios, Jira, Git, Ansible.
  • Understand and support other systems and applications as needed.
  • Support and maintain network switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Be part of on-call rotation (1-week duration every 8 weeks, weekends and 4 hrs overnight).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A minimum combination of education and experience totaling 6 years, with a preference for 3 or more years of Unix/Linux MySQL PHP and Apache work experience.
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
  • Strong understanding of Application Layer Protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SMTP.
  • Experience with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Excellent system level trouble shooting skills.
