We're Hiring: QA Automation Lead

For our partner, a leading Canadian online gambling company – we are looking for an experienced
QA Automation Lead
(Playwright)
to join their global engineering team. This is a
full-time remote role via B2B contractor agreement
, offering the opportunity to lead automation strategy and mentor a talented QA team.

Role Summary

As QA Automation Lead, you will design and implement automated testing frameworks for complex systems including gaming, wagering, and financial platforms. Leading a team of 3–5 automation engineers, you'll drive the transformation from manual to automation-first testing while ensuring compliance, reliability, and high-quality delivery.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of QA automation experience
  • 2+ years in a technical lead or senior automation role
  • Strong experience with modern UI automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress)
  • API testing expertise and automation tools
  • Proficiency in , C#, Python, or JavaScript
  • CI/CD pipeline integration experience
  • SQL and database validation skills
  • Experience leading/mentoring teams of 3+ engineers
  • Excellent English communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with distributed, international teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gaming, fintech, or regulated industry experience
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory testing (PCI DSS, GDPR)
  • Performance testing for high-volume systems
  • Containerized test environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • AWS or cloud testing services
  • AI-assisted testing tools experience
  • ISTQB or QA certifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of QA automation engineers
  • Build and maintain automated tests for APIs, UI, and end-to-end flows
  • Design automation architecture for complex integrations
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Establish code coverage metrics and reporting dashboards
  • Drive automation-first approach for all new feature development
  • Collaborate with North American teams across time zone
