How you'll add value

As a Senior Product Designer at Paycor, a remote-first company, you will work closely with other product designers, software engineers, and product managers to create software products in an Agile environment. You will be the spokesperson for our users and work with various teams to develop a shared understanding of how those users interact with our products. You will create simple, effective, usable user interface designs that meet our customers' needs. You will lead research initiatives and usability studies while mentoring others, developing comprehensive research strategies that inform product decisions and teaching best practices to other designers. You are not afraid of the unknowns of a project and are a curious collaborator. You are a critical thinker, a strategic planner, and able to discern what design deliverable is needed to help your team solve complex problems. You want to share your passion for user-centered design with your teams through teaching, mentoring, and leading by example.

Duties and Cor Responsibilities

• Lead extensive user research with clients and customers (e.g., observation and in-depth interviews)
• Build any combination of sketches, wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, and user flows that clearly communicate concepts to your teams, stakeholders, and users
• Lead usability tests to rapidly improve and validate design decisions
• Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams to build a shared understanding of user needs, software behaviors, and strategic goals
• Mentor and teach Product Designers best practices for conducting research, performing usability studies, and creating designs
• Develop and implement research plans that align with product strategy and business goals

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• 5 or more years working as a designer in creating wireframes and mockups that demonstrate depth of knowledge in usability heuristics and visual aesthetic; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Experience designing for products with complex operational requirements, such as finance, payroll, and/or compliance workflows
• Experience conducting UX research and usability tests
• Proficient at wireframing, prototyping, and creating visual designs using a design system
• Understands current web and mobile design standards, including accessibility
• Experience following Agile methodologies and working closely with Agile teams
• The ability to work collaboratively with others
• Written, verbal, and visual communication skills along with a portfolio demonstrating your abilities and process

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. In addition to base pay, Paycor associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on the position.
