Role Summary
Are you a humble, empathetic, and service-minded Platform Developer Experience Engineer with working experience in GitLab CI and Backstage? We want you to join our band of customer-success-focused, like-minded merry folk. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help implement and maintain our internal developer platform (IDP) as we streamline our software development lifecycle. Your knowledge of GitLab CI, container images, Kubernetes, and Backstage, along with your passion for customer success, will be instrumental in serving our development teams and enabling their work to flow smoothly from local to production as they rapidly iterate on products.

Responsibilities

• CI/CD Pipeline Development: Maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines for various projects utilizing GitLab CI.
• GitOps: Contribute to our application deployment system using ArgoCD for declarative and GitOps-based deployments.
• GitLab Administration: Manage and maintain the GitLab instance, including user management, access control, and system configuration.
• Production Readiness Process: Help to implement a robust, automated production readiness process to ensure applications meet quality, observability, compliance, security, alerting, and reliability standards before deployment.
• Augment our Internal Development Portal—Backstage: Contribute to plugin integrations and maintain "golden path" components to standardize app and service scaffolding.
• Collaboration and Support: Build tust with development teams, and help to identify process painpoints and bottlenecks so we can make the developer experience better.

Qualifications

• CI/CD Expertise: Working experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines, specifically using GitLab CI.
• GitLab Administration: Familiarity with managing and administering GitLab.
• GitOps Experience: Hands-on experience with ArgoCD for Kubernetes deployments is a bonus.
• Kubernetes Experience: Clear understanding of Kubernetes for container orchestration and application deployment.
• Application Development Experience: Hands-on experience contributing to the development of APIs and UIs using React/TypeScript—you don't have to be an expert.
