We are seeking a visionary and experienced Digital Payment Hub Lead to spearhead the technological evolution of NLB Pay. You will be the central technical authority, responsible for architecting and delivering a best-in-class platform. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact initiative, working closely with an exceptional Product Owner to turn a compelling vision into a market-leading reality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and own the end-to-end technical roadmap for the NLB Pay platform. Design a scalable, secure, and robust architecture that supports our ambitious growth plans, from user-facing features to backend acquiring processes.

Platform Evolution

  • Lead the technical strategy for integrating next-generation payment solutions

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build your own team
  • Guide, mentor, and empower a cross-functional team of engineers and technical specialists. Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

Visionary Partnership

  • Work in a tight-knit partnership with our visionary Product Owner. Act as his key technical counterpart, translating strategic business goals into an actionable technology backlog and ensuring technical feasibility aligns with customer value.

Technology & Innovation

  • Stay at the forefront of the fintech landscape, identifying emerging technologies, trends, and standards to ensure NLB Pay remains a competitive and innovative solution.

Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee the entire development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring together with assigned project coordinator that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a senior technical or leadership role within the digital payments, fintech, or banking technology sector.
  • Proven track record of architecting and delivering complex, scalable, and secure digital payment solutions.
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of the payments ecosystem: card processing (issuing & acquiring), payment gateways, tokenization, mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and microservices architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring cross-functional technical teams in an agile environment.
  • Exceptional ability to bridge the gap between high-level business vision and detailed technical implementation.
  • Superior strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have):

  • Direct, hands-on experience in building or managing merchant acquiring systems, payment orchestration layers, or loyalty platforms.
  • Familiarity with the specific payment and regulatory landscape in the Southeast Europe (SEE) region.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies and microservices architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Deep understanding of payment security standards and practices (e.g., PCI DSS, 3-D Secure).
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field; advanced degree or certification is a plus.
