Role Overview
We are looking for an International Finance Manager, a role that offers blend of technical reporting, financial oversight, and commercial insight. The successful candidate will take ownership of the accounting and reporting for international subsidiaries and group-level cost centers, contributing to the broader financial reporting and control framework of the LSE listed Group. The ideal candidate will be motivated, proactive, and thrive in a dynamic, evolving business environment.
Job Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process for overseas entities: review trial balances, journals, intercompany positions, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Liaise with local finance teams and third-party advisors to ensure timely submission of financial data and compliance with group policies.
- Build, manage and develop strong relationships with country and entity directors in; Ireland, Asia, US and other jurisdictions, acting as finance business partner.
- Confidently manage senior stakeholders, ensuring financial communication is clear, solutions-focused, and aligned with Group requirements.
- Ensure consistent application of IFRS across international subsidiaries.
- Design fit for purpose tax compliant cross border revenue and cost sharing policies.
- Design fit for purpose, standardised regional management accounts ensuring full use of technology for efficient and timely delivery.
- Be Finance lead on project to review international corporate structure.
Group Cost Management:
- Take responsibility for accurate reporting and forecasting of group-level (head office and shared) costs.
- Manage budgeting, reforecasting, and variance analysis in coordination with business stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate cost allocations and intercompany recharges across divisions (e.g. Investment Trust and IPS) and between subsidiary entities.
- Design process for regular intercompany balance settlement.
- Ownership for lease accounting under IFRS
- Ownership for bad debt provisioning policy and accounting.
- Drive process improvement to ensure rigorous month end control and close.
Group Financial Reporting:
- Support and own elements of group consolidation, including elimination entries and intercompany reconciliations for relevant entities.
- Lead on areas of preparation of half-year and year-end group financial statements under IFRS.
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with external Big 4 auditors, taking responsibility for difficult queries and complex areas.
- Proactively drive improvements in the audit process and relationship with auditors to ensure a smoother, more efficient year-end cycle.
- Prepare or review subsidiary statutory accounts where required.
Control & Process Improvement:
- Contribute to the implementation of the Group Financial Controls Framework and continuous improvement of financial processes.
- Actively support automation, enrichment of ledger data, and implementation of tools (e.g. FloQast).
- Drive consistency and accuracy in reporting through standardisation and collaboration with the shared service center (SSC) and group teams.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with 2+ years' PQE.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS.
- Experience in a group finance or statutory reporting role within a multinational or listed business. Professional Services an advantage.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with Sage Intacct or similar systems advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience in process and control improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — confident working with senior and international stakeholders.
- Demonstrable ability to build trust with country/entity directors and navigate complex stakeholder dynamics.
- Demonstrates a proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Committed to seeing tasks through to completion, consistently meeting deadlines, and driving continuous improvement.
- Audit-trained (Top 10) with industry experience managing external auditors, taking ownership of respective entities through to completion of the audit cycle.
- Experience of preparing statutory Financial Statements and delivering a month end close.
